The Alaska Avalanche Information Center supports the sharing of avalanche, snow,
and weather observations to further the safety of backcountry and winter travelers.
If
you travel in the backcountry, guide for a commercial operation, or
just stick to the "Road-Run" in Thompson Pass, your observations are
important to us. We want to include your data in our reports so
everyone can benefit from your observations. "I want to be involved, but I don't think I have the experience to contribute professional reports." Not
a problem! Our bulletins and forecasts are not exclusively based on
snowpit data. If you can identify an avalanche you saw, tell us what
the snow felt like, or simply tell us what the weather was doing while
you were out, then you have information that we are interested in. Contact us and we can give you some pointers on how to make useful observations to the avalanche center. |
