Dan VanDerMuellen grew up Idaho tough wrangling, ski racing, and leading long wilderness horse pack trips. He spends more nights out in the snow and mountains than anyone has since the Gold Rush. He has worked as an avalanche forecaster for Valdez Heli-Camps and H2O Heli Guides. Dan is an AIARE Instructor and is undertaking his Canadian Avalanche Association Level II.
